Ridgemount’s LC-QR™ [Quick Release] connector has been distinguished among the best in the industry in the 11th annual Lightwave Innovation Reviews in the Optical Components category. In their assessment judges noted that “The LC-QR™ is a great reminder that an innovation doesn’t have to be complex to be very effective.”
It was born from the desire to prevent issues with in-home patch cords becoming disengaged from their connections and thus causing damage that required a truck roll to fix.
Designed by the same team that developed the Venturi range of blowable connectors, the LC-QR™ is a simplex LC connector with a unique patented front body latch. This latch allows the connector to disengage at loads up to 25N and will disconnect at loads as low as ~5N when snagged. It thus provides for a safe and risk-free connection from the installation date.
Chris Peters, Managing Director, commented “We are delighted to have been recognised in this year’s review. Our LC-QR™ connector addresses what is becoming a common problem as FTTH connections gains ever more traction in the home. This innovation is helping operators to avoid costly truck rolls to re-connect customers.”
